PRIME VIDEO Drama Series

BOSCH (2014)
7 seasons / 68 episodes
A cop drama starring Titus Welliver as the titular Harry Bosch, an LAPD detective who is relentless in his pursuit of bad guys. It’s pretty basic genre stuff, so if you like cop shows, you’ll love it. But the real treat, especially for anyone who knows Los Angeles, is how central the city is to the show, and the on-location shooting is unlike any other show I’ve seen. Want to see the real Los Angeles? Bosch is for you. The original series ended in 2021, but there is a follow-up series, called Bosch: Legacy, that has one season already under its belt and looks set up for more.

THE NIGHT MANAGER (2016)
1 season / 6 episodes
This is a short, six-episode series based on a John LeCarre novel about an unwitting hotel employee (Tom Hiddleston) who gets caught up in the underworld of a rich and shady arms dealer (Hugh Laurie). It’s filled with action and glamorous settings—it’s James Bond, just without the good guys. Bonus points for great turns from both Elizabeth Debicki and Olivia Colman.

A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL (2018)
1 season / 3 episodes
Short and sweet, coming in in just three episodes, this based-on-a-true-story stars Hugh Grant as an English politician who is accused of murdering his gay ex-lover, played by Ben Whishaw, in 1979. Worth it for Whishaw alone, but isn’t everything?
